Terex MPS: MVP380X and MVP450X
The Cedarapids MVP380X and MVP450X cone crushers are enhanced with high-speed clearing of jammed material and quick crusher separation capability for faster manganese changes, according to Terex MPS. The 300-hp MVP380X and 400-hp MVP450X incorporate pinned cylinder ends that remove quickly to allow fast cone separation, which results in faster manganese changes and reduced downtime. At the press of a button, fully guided dual-action tramp-relief cylinders provide 6-in. lift for easy clearing of jammed feed material to reduce downtime and increase productivity. The hydro-pneumatic tramp-iron relief system instantly resets the crusher setting after passing non-crushable material without having to activate valves and pumps. A high-flow manifold system with four accumulators provides redundant cylinder protection. The hydraulic-powered threaded upper assembly allows for quick crusher setting adjustment under load. www.terexmps.com Photo: Terex Keep Reading
Lesson 3 – Drilling & Blasting
Take a look at the latest version of this Lesson. When considering drilling in a quarry environment, it is important to analyze not the present needs of the operation, but also the growth path the site will take in succeeding years. Drilling is one of the critical elements in the drilling and blasting process. A blasthole is merely a cylindrical vehicle designed and strategically situated to hold and contain an explosive charge so that it can be detonated in the most efficient and optimum manner possible. No blasting system will be truly effective if the hole is poorly placed; i.e. excessive burden and spacing, sized incorrectly for desired results, insufficient in depth, etc. The drilling phase is the most expensive in the drilling and blasting portion of production, requiring a sizable investment and upkeep. The impact of improper drilling can be felt throughout the remainder of the production cycle, such as excavating and hauling, crushing, screening and so on. The purpose here is to concentrate on some of the factors… Keep Reading
Caterpillar: Product Link with VisionLink 2.7
Caterpillar's Product Link with VisionLink 2.7 enhances the ability of managers to monitor equipment remotely. Product Link’s intuitive interface provides users a mobile-optimized web application, the ability to schedule automated delivery of VisionLink reports, and remote access to onboard payload system information. The mobile application is available on iOS, BlackBerry, Android/Chrome and Windows operating systems. Introductory functionality enables viewing the location of assets on a map, tracking scheduled services, viewing fault codes and open alerts, and accessing idle, working and runtime through a smart phone. New productivity functionality leverages existing onboard payload systems for wheel loaders and off-highway trucks equipped with such systems. Managers can remotely monitor information such as total payload moved per day and total payload per hour and per unit of fuel. www.cat.com Keep Reading

Modular Mining Systems: AssetAlert
The AssetAlert asset management system allows surface mines to better track and manage their fixed and mobile assets, Modular Mining Systems says. Mines know the exact location of their assets with AssetAlert, eliminating time spent searching for items such as auxiliary equipment, cranes, generators and light vehicles. AssetAlert enables mines to remotely start and stop equipment, monitor the movement and status of equipment and check if operators are driving to road conditions. The latest AssetAlert release, AssetAlert 1.1, gives mines even more control by adding the ability to schedule when a digital output is turned on or off. This capability can be applied to a single device, or to an entire asset group, and multiple device outputs can be toggled on or off in a series. For example, with AssetAlert 1.1, mobile light towers can be set to automatically power off in the morning, eliminating unnecessary runtime during daylight hours. modularmining.com Keep Reading
