U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez released the president’s 2017 budget for the Department of Labor, which supports the president’s plan to train workers for jobs of the future and bolster the economic and retirement security of working families. U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez released the president’s 2017 budget for the Department of Labor, which supports the president’s plan to train workers for jobs of the future and bolster the economic and retirement security of working families. “This budget makes investments to ensure that America’s economy works for everyone," Perez says. "It reflects our optimism about the future and our commitment to creating broadly shared prosperity. The president’s budget envisions a future with greater opportunity for all – a future where a full-time job pays a living wage, where working families have the support they need to survive and thrive and where retirements are secure.” The fiscal-year 2017 budget for the department includes $12.8 billion in discretionary funding along with new, dedicated mandatory funds. The budget includes substantial investments in the department’s worker-protection agencies for the enforcement of laws that protect the health, safety, wages and working conditions of American workers. Martin Marietta, Vulcan post quarterly results
The results are in, and the numbers show both aggregates producers on the rise. Martin Marietta Materials Inc., which released its fourth-quarter and 2015 year-end performance report, established quarterly company records for net sales and profitability. According to Ward Nye, chairman, president and CEO of Martin Marietta, strong pricing, disciplined execution of the company’s strategic plan and steady growth in general construction activity drove the company’s sales. Vulcan Materials Co. released its fourth-quarter results, reporting 14 percent higher revenues over the prior year’s fourth quarter. According to Vulcan, gross profit and gross profit margins improved in the company’s aggregates, asphalt and concrete segments. Read the report overviews for each company. The Atlas Copco FlexiROC T45 top hammer surface drill rig gives users a flexible, efficient tool that is uncompromising in regard to fuel efficiency. According to Atlas Copco, field studies showed that the FlexiROC T45 with fixed boom uses half as much fuel as similar rigs using the same drill. Maurice Hunter, Atlas Copco business line manager of surface and exploration drilling equipment, says the FlexiROC T45 uses half as much fuel as its ROC F9 predecessor under similar conditions. In addition, the COP 3060 rock drill mounted on a fixed boom and aluminum feed manages large diameters using the T60 drill string for better performance and reliability. During operation, FlexiROC T45 operators can adjust the airflow and the dust collector fan speed according to actual work demands. The engine speed and compressor are then adjusted automatically. The FlexiROC T45 features a superior cabin environment.
