Quarry Faces: February 2025

The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) held its Convention & Safety Conference near the end of 2024. The event, which took place in Springfield, Illinois, drew more than 400 attendees. Among those in attendance were Tuscola Stone Co.’s Alan Shoemaker (center), the immediate past president of IAAP who was celebrated for his retirement. IAAP awards each member who “mines” new members for the association with an Estwing rock pick featuring an engraved plate noting the achievement. Bluff City Materials’ Josh Quinn, pictured at left with IAAP’s Jess Hawkins, was recognized at the convention for recruiting HelperBroom as a new member. Quinn also received the association’s Industry Leadership Award for 2024.

The IAAP Convention concluded with an awards luncheon. Holcim’s Jack Keeler (left) presented awards on behalf of the IAAP Education Foundation Scholarship program to recipients like Ruby Garey (right). Other 2024 scholarship recipients were Katie Bottom, Michael Giaimo, Lydia Howard, German Laiton-Hernandez and Hannah McKoon.

The South Carolina Aggregates Association’s (SCAA) 4th Annual Workshop & Exhibition took place late last year in Columbia, South Carolina. Geologic was one of 54 exhibiting companies to participate in the event. The company was represented by (from left) Samuel Walker, Stephanie Holmes and Randy Kunz.

Josh Kantor (left) and Kevin Suich of Panasonic Connect also participated in the SCAA Workshop & Exhibition, which drew more than 350 attendees. The show’s attendance and exhibitors have each grown since the SCAA Workshop & Exhibition began in 2021.

Kemper Equipment was yet another company to exhibit at the SCAA Workshop & Exhibition, with Billy Mancini (left) and Tyler Barbee on hand.
