Terex Minerals Processing Systems: LJ-TSV Horizontal Screen
The new Terex Cedarapids LJ-TSV Horizontal Screen increases production and handles applications not possible with traditional horizontal screens, because it combines the efficient, high g-force ElJay oval stroke motion with variable slope operation to handle larger deck loads. The new design also features more steel in the “rock zone” for industry-leading durability. The screen has multiple new patent-pending features to boost production, including the variable slope, which handles larger deck loads and bigger screen openings to increase production; a screen that installs up to 10° in 2.5° increments to best fit the application; optional bottom deck deflector plates to boost efficiency; and a low-maintenance vibration damper system www.terexmps.com Photo: Terex Keep Reading
Doosan: DA40
The DA40 articulated dump truck (ADT) offers reduced fuel consumption and a new transmission offering eight forward and four reverse speeds, according to Doosan. In addition, the ADT offers an increased body capacity of 34 cu. yd. and a payload of 40 metric tons without a tailgate. Doosan says its free-swinging rear tandem bogie and special articulation system offer excellent driving performance in difficult terrain. Also, a new cab provides more space, improved visibility and reduced noise levels. www.doosanequipment.com Photo: Doosan Keep Reading
Train and maintain
Automatic belt alignment solutions help prevent material spillage and eliminate the need to constantly monitor alignment. Today’s top belt training technologies are proven solutions that minimize maintenance manpower. They are automatic solutions that continuously keep the belt aligned, allowing the crew to attain that coveted set-it-and-forget-it attitude. After all, who wants to continuously adjust and monitor a belt – especially when the one moment you walk away is the one moment that the belt rips? “One of the best belt-tracking solutions is the automatic return training idler, which provides continuous alignment, centering the belt and reducing or eliminating any belt damage,” says Jarrod Felton, vice president of sales, marketing and engineering for Superior Industries. “Automatic return training idlers are particularly effective for operators of portable equipment or mobile track-mounted equipment. They are an ideal choice in a variety of tough applications; or in applications where self-aligning idlers do not fit. Return training idlers can be applied to either high- or low-end belts,” he says. Felton points to a couple of… Keep Reading
4B Components Ltd.: Watchdog Elite
The Watchdog Elite hazard monitoring system from 4B Components Ltd. is a user-programmable, microprocessor-controlled bucket elevator and conveyor monitor. The control unit accepts a combination of signals from sensors for monitoring belt alignment, belt speed, continuous bearing temperature, head pulley alignment and plug conditions. An LCD screen displays elevator status messages, and a bright LED display shows belt speed. Calibration and setup parameters are accessed via a password and front-panel touch buttons. The Watchdog can be programmed to set off an alarm and provide shutdown control of machinery when hazardous conditions are detected. Also, the control unit can be connected to a host computer through a standard RS485 serial communications link, an optional PLC interface, or networked using 4B Component's F500 Fieldbus. www.go4b.com Keep Reading
Terex Minerals Processing Systems: MC1300
The MC1300 cone module from Terex Minerals Processing Systems (MPS) features the Terex TC1300 51-in. cone crusher, which a 300-hp electric motor powers. An unrestricted feed opening and a full range of configurations for short and long throw give the TC1300 high versatility, according to Terex MPS. An all-roller bearing design is intended to improve crushing efficiency. Additional TC1300 features are a hydraulically adjustable closed side setting and a weather-protected control panel. The MC1300 also has a heavy-duty I-beam frame and a galvanized steel structure, including walkways, steps and guardrails. The module structure and all of its components are CE compliant. www.terex.com Photo: Terex Keep Reading
Rohr: K 125R
The Rohr division of Rohr-Idreco announced the successful startup of its first land-based mobile Bucketladder, a K 125 R dredge in Canada. Rohr's land-based mobile bucketladders have a standard digging depth of up to 33 ft., but can be designed to reach up to 40 ft. Production ranges from 50 to more 500 tph, depending on material and digging depth. This dredge is being used in a new pit in lieu of a long-arm single-bucket excavator owing to its deeper digging depth, dewatering and oversize separation screening and low energy consumption. The K 125R has fully automated controls (to support a one-man operation) and variable bucket speeds. www.rohrdredge.com Keep Reading
Caterpillar: 988K
Caterpillar's 988K wheel loader features redesigned loader linkage, drivetrain modifications, a redesigned cab and enhancements in safety and serviceability. A Cat C18 ACERT engine powers the 988K and is available as a Tier 4 Final version. Electronic fuel control ensures optimum performance and throttle response, delivering up to 20 percent greater fuel efficiency compared with the 988H, Cat says. Optimized Z-bar loader linkage replaces the 988H mono-boom design and expands the 988K's versatility in small quarries and underground applications. The new design, using steel lift arms in either a standard or high-lift configuration, reduces machine height at maximum lift, yet increases dump clearance. The design also shortens machine length for greater maneuverability, Cat says. www.cat.com Photo: Caterpillar Keep Reading
Hitachi: ZX870LC-5
The ZX870LC-5 is the largest of Hitachi's Dash-5 excavators, featuring greater horsepower and optimized hydraulics for bigger arm- and bucket-digging forces. According to Hitachi, the ZX870LC-5 was designed with maximum uptime in mind. Its Tier 4 Interim engine operates quietly, giving users the ability to work anywhere. A significant improvement over the Dash-3 model is operator comfort, the company says. The cab features a wider door with more glass, more side-to-side foot room, a heated air-suspension seat for more comfort and an easy-to-read and easy-to-operate multifunction monitor. A rearview camera further enhances operator convenience and confidence. www.hitachiconstruction.com Photo: Hitachi Keep Reading
John Deere: 644K Hybrid
The new 644K Hybrid wheel loader from John Deere utilizes diesel and electric energy. The hybrid loader captures regenerated energy as it's being created and uses it to power the machine. The 644K Hybrid is equipped with 6.8-liter Tier 4 Interim engine that runs at an operator-selected constant speed ranging from 900 to 1,800 rpm. The machine's hybrid technology delivers performance that is equal to or better than the conventional 644K Hybrid depending on the application, John Deere says. In addition, the engine's constant operating speed maintains continuous hydraulic flow at all times, delivering hydraulic responsiveness and reducing cycle times. The electric motor smoothly delivers torque, resulting in fluid operation and a smoother ride. www.johndeere.com Photo: John Deere Keep Reading
