Metso: C120
The casting design on the C120 jaw crusher is based on a thorough finite element analysis and casting simulations, according to Metso. The C120 is the result of several new design elements, the company says. The C120 has a feed opening of 34 in. x 47 in. In terms of cavity volume and crusher weight, the C120 is positioned between the existing Metso C116 and C125 jaw crusher models. Mechanical or hydraulic setting adjustment systems are available for quick, easy and safe setting adjustment. For jaw dies, several cavity options are available. Depending on the customer’s preference, it is possible to use either single- or two-piece jaw dies. The C120’s nominal power is 200 hp, an operating speed of 230 rpm, a closed side setting between 2.75 in. and 8 in. The operational weight is 57,200 lbs., excluding options. www.metso.com Keep Reading
Volvo Construction Equipment
Volvo Construction Equipment says its hauler chassis can be fitted with a timber hauler, water tank, hook lift, ejector body or a fifth wheel to pull a trailer. A bolt-on frame extension is available for the A25F and A30F-based machines. The extension, which is offered in two lengths – 47 in. and 67 in. – means longer or larger volumes can be supported. Central to the articulated hauler concept is the articulated steering system, according to Volvo. This allows for short turning circles, which is useful in confined loading areas and on tightly turning haul roads. The self-compensating hydro-mechanical system also gives operators outstanding control of the machine through both its high steering force in tough off-road conditions and its accurate, safe operation at high speeds, the company says www.volvoce.com Photo: Volvo Construction Equipment Keep Reading
Kobelco: SK350LC
The SK350LC excavator, weighing 80,900 lbs., has a 270-net-hp engine and the stability and muscle behind it to perform effortlessly across a wide range of applications, Kobelco says. A dig depth of 24 ft., 10 in. coupled with a reach of 36 ft., 3 in. and a dump height of 24 ft., 2 in. provide versatility on the job, from digging to dumping to lifting and placing. The engine meets Tier 4 emission standards, the company says, and three operational modes allow operators to select from H, S or eco based on the work at hand, saving fuel and gaining productivity through increased continuous operation. Preventive maintenance is low cost and hassle free with easy access from the ground to service checkpoints, Kobelco says. Added timesaving features include long-life hydraulic oil, a double-element air filter and a 500-hour cycle for attachment lubricants. www.kobelco-usa.com Keep Reading
Thurman Scale’s: TS-3200
Several enhancements and features were incorporated into Thurman Scale's TS-3200 truck scale instrument, including color display, built-in data management for products and customer files, an Ethernet option and data transfer via email for both transactions and diagnostics. According to Thurman Scale, users will have access to customizable reports and a built-in backup capability. One key feature is the TS-3200's ability to manage three individual truck scales or function as a three-platform highway system scale. In addition, users can store product files for easy access, as well as cost and price management. Customer files are easily added, accessible and maintained right from the instrument, the company says. Users can program text to appear on the printed transaction tickets in formats that best fit individual operations. www.thurmanscale.com Keep Reading
Kleemann: EVO line of portable plants
The EVO line of portable plants from Kleemann uses a new, highly efficient material-flow concept designed to eliminate all restriction to the flow of material throughout the plant. For example, the discharge chute under the crusher is 4 in. wider than the inner width of the crusher, and the subsequent discharge belt is another 4 in. wider than the discharge chute. Material is thus transported quickly and carefully away from the critical area under the crusher, the company says, with flow rate increased and wear reduced. Even before crushing takes place, there is an improvement in the material flow, thanks to the width of the feeder troughs and grizzly that facilitate flow of the material through the opening of the crusher. www.kleemann.info Photo: Kleemann Keep Reading
Rice Lake Weighing Systems: TradeRoute
Rice Lake Weighing Systems' legal-for-trade onboard scale lets drivers bypass local truck scales and conduct business directly to and from their payload – printed ticket and all. According to Rice Lake, TradeRoute is one of a few legal-for-trade onboard scales available in North America. This particular scale is unique, the company says, because it operates solely from a parked position where hydraulics are used to engage the scale. TradeRoute’s load cells support the vehicle’s load only during the weigh cycle, eliminating the potential for premature load cell wear from constant engagement. TradeRoute is designed to install around the frame of many common straight-truck designs, using a combination of frame-hugging weigh modules, a stainless steel junction box and a weatherproof control center that houses Rice Lake’s 920i indicator/controller and Epson TM-U295 ticket printer. www.ricelake.com Keep Reading
KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens: SuperStacker
The latest model of telescoping stackers from KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens is designed to minimize stockpile segregate and increase stockpile capacity. According to the company, the new model features an updated Wizard Touch automation control system that allows for additional stockpiling options. The automation system comes with factory-preset programming and provides the versatility of customizing in the field. Through design, KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens says the SuperStacker allows 30 percent more stockpile in the same footprint versus a conventional stacker. The SuperStacker includes a standard cam-arm linkage that connects the rear undercarriage to the conveyor frame. This maintains a constant radius from the pivot plate to the axle. www.kpijci.com Keep Reading
Bronx Crushers
Interlinked plants expedite concrete recycling for a New York City company. Interlinked aggregate processing plants are making demolition concrete recycling more economical in the heart of one of the most competitive markets for recycled concrete aggregate, New York City. There, new tracked primary jaw crusher, tracked secondary cone crusher and tracked mobile screen plants are producing recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) faster, to better gradations, than did existing equipment on the site just months earlier. Tracked equipment – not often seen at a permanent urban recycling site – also helps the owner expeditiously position equipment and stockpiles for optimum utility. New York Recycling LLC operates from an existing five-acre site in the Bronx, only blocks from Yankee Stadium. “We think concrete recycling is an industry of the future,” says Eric Coppola, principal. “We wanted to be close to Manhattan because as building projects continue there, a lot of concrete buildings and foundations are taken down and rebuilt. Sidewalks also are recycled. There is a high structural turnover in New York City,… Keep Reading

Lehigh Hanson has found that in addition to Energy Star awards, cost savings are another result of smart energy use. Over the past 18 months, one of the largest construction materials companies in North America, Lehigh Hanson Inc., has captured two Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awards for energy efficiency at two of its aggregate production sites. The first award was given to the company’s Mission Valley Rock Plant in Sunol, Calif., in April 2013 when the plant site reduced their energy intensity by 12.2 percent over the course of one year. The second award, presented in June, went to the company’s Harding Street Plant in Indianapolis. Both plants were enrolled in the EPA Energy Star Challenge for Industry program, which was initiated in 2006. The EPA program was a good fit with Lehigh Hanson’s own 2010 initiative to evaluate energy consumption efficiency at its 600-plus operations located in the U.S. and Canada. Leroy Goree, Lehigh Hanson senior electrical engineering manager with the company’s aggregates technical support group, says the fact… Keep Reading
