ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: Emerson Industrial Automation

Morse Raider Plus speed reducers use advanced finishing techniques, additional bearings and special seals to arm them for leak-free performance, guaranteed for 18 months. The Raider Plus’ computerized gear centering optimizes the gear mesh for reduced heat and debris formation, eliminating unnecessary backlash and delivering high efficiency and long life, the company says. A patented, roll-burnished journal finish extends seal life up to four-fold, and exclusive double-lip seals on both input and output shafts provide leak-proof operation in highly contaminated applications. The Raider Plus also features an exclusive non-metallic quill liner that reduces fretting and corrosion, and eases motor removal. Large, single-row ball bearings absorb radial and thrust loads on higher input speeds, while heavy-duty tapered roller bearings on all output shafts handle inherent gear load and provide maximum overhung load capacity. “A key design component of this reducer is a second input bearing that reduces wear and fatigue on the input seal,” says DeWayne Polley, a gearing product specialist for Emerson. “The second input bearing minimizes shaft movement during… Keep Reading

ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens

KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens will exhibit six pieces of equipment in the Astec Industries booth, including the new-generation SuperStacker, the Kodiak Plus K500+ Cone Crusher, the Series 9000 Dewatering Screen, the High Frequency Screen for the Industrial Sands Market, the FT2650 Jaw Crusher with a pre-screen option and the new-generation 3055 Vanguard Jaw Crusher. Its parent corporation, Astec Industries, will exhibit a total of 42 pieces of equipment in its booth, 89 percent of which will be new to the industry. The new, 170-ft.-long SuperStacker has replaced the e-chain with the festoon system, providing less maintenance, smoother operation and better reliability. It also features an enhanced Wizard Touch automation control system, allowing for more stockpiling options. The new-generation Vanguard Jaw Crusher reduces maintenance and increases performance, with an optional tramp iron relief system enabling adjustments of the closed-side-setting on the fly while providing overload protection from tramp iron events. The Kodiak Plus K500+ fills a demand for larger secondary and tertiary cone crushers that are used by high-production aggregate… Keep Reading

ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: Baldor Electric Co.

Baldor’s new line of shaft mount right-angle beltless Motorized Torque-Arm (MTA) reducers are offered in seven sizes, from 3 to 100 hp, and torque ratings up to 130,000 in./lbs. This reducer mounts in multiple positions and is ideal for areas where standard belt driven reducers will not fit, the company says. The MTA reducer features the patented Dodge twin tapered bushing system that makes installation and removal easy, and provides a sturdy, concentric grip of the driven shaft on both sides of the reducer. This eliminates the wobble and fretting corrosion associated with straight bore and single bushed reducers. Available in full length and short shaft systems, both guarantee maximum torque transmission, the company says. Engineered to perform in harsh conditions, the MTA has a patented premium sealing system with excluder seal technology for extra protection against contaminants, and has a -40°F to 300°F+ temperature range. The reducer has an American Gear Manufacturers Association rated design, with all tapered roller bearings, offering twice the bearing design life versus competitors’ units.… Keep Reading

ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: Metso Mining and Construction

The highlight of Metso’s booth will be a new two-in-one model belonging to its Lokotrack product group. This new mobile equipment reduces transportation costs and set-up time while delivering optimum fuel efficiency, the company says. It is designed to work together with the Lokotrack LT106 mobile jaw plant, which will also be showcased in Las Vegas. In addition, the HP3, part of Metso’s new generation of high-performance cone crushers, increases crushing efficiency and throughput, reduces energy consumption, and improves safety and maintenance. The HP3 is more versatile than previous-generation cone crushers: In some cases, it can replace two units. Metso Quarry Supply Solutions is a new service offering, providing a “one-stop shop” for all quarry supply needs. It combines delivery, installation and consulting to support a full range of consumable products, including crusher wears, lining solutions, synthetic and wire screen media, as well as a wide array of conveyor components, accessories and belts. The Metso booth will also serve as customers’ first introduction to the Lokotrack ST2.8 mobile screen, which… Keep Reading

ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: Eagle Iron Works

Eagle Iron Works has been developing ways to make its system controls even simpler for customers. A series of changes to its line of Mark V controls for its Sand Classifying Tanks have led to the development of the Mark VI line. The list of improvements to the operating system is extensive, but key features include improved accuracy and simplicity of the calibration process. The process of comparing and recalibrating the system takes less than one minute. The system also remembers specific product calibrations, allowing it to switch back and forth automatically as the feed changes. In addition, up to five products can be produced simultaneously, and each product is able to have its own type of specification and calibration. The Mark VI can have a different percent retained, percent passing or cumulative percent retained specification for each product. It also predicts the tph of each product and the total feed coming to the classifying tank, as well as maintaining daily tonnage accumulators. Plus, after the Mark VI brings a… Keep Reading

ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: W.S. Tyler

W.S. Tyler has added mobility to the list of benefits of its Hydro-Clean washing system: It now offers the ability to mount the machine on a chassis for easy movement from place to place within a quarry or even from jobsite to jobsite. Like the original Hydro-Clean, the portable unit effectively cleans deleterious material from aggregate, recycled and other minerals. The results are cleaner products with higher selling value and profits from material that was previously considered waste. In the process, the Hydro-Clean uses up to 75 percent less water than traditional washers and 15 percent less energy, the company says. “The Hydro-Clean is unique in the industry,” says Matthias Bremer, innovation engineer at W.S. Tyler. “Making it mobile delivers the flexibility to locate washing closer to the actual job and reposition it as necessary to boost efficiency, while delivering all the same profitability and environmental benefits of a stationary Hydro-Clean.” Water consumption ranges from 27 to 211 gpm, depending on application and model size. Of the total volume of… Keep Reading

ConExpo 2014 Exhibitor Profile: McLanahan Corp.

McLanahan will showcase its capabilities in dry and wet processing, as well as premiere its brand-new capabilities in crushing with two new product introductions. The first will be a new cone crusher, and the second is McLanahan’s reinvention of the single-toggle/overhead eccentric jaw crusher. McLanahan has developed a line of hard rock jaw crushers with major design innovations that will change the operation of a primary crushing station from a low- to a high-productivity element in the processing system. The first size in the series, a 44x50-in. model, will be on display in the booth — with presentations throughout each day highlighting what makes this new jaw crusher design safer, simpler and smarter than any that is currently on the market. McLanahan will also introduce two products that assist customers with water management issues. The recessed plate filter press has undergone extensive design changes to enhance its safety and simplicity, which will continue to help customers eliminate settling ponds — including moving to a single-piston design. Plus, after years of… Keep Reading
