AGG1 2015 Exhibitor Profile: McLanahan Corp.

McLanahan Corp. plans to showcase its sand processing, fines recovery and water management systems at its display in Baltimore. Superior Industries’ Aggre-Dry dewatering washer is a washing fines recovery system. It reroutes –25 mm of material fines from an onboard dewatering screen back to the integrated sand screw. Superior Industries reported these fines tend to be lost to waste ponds, but the recovery system processes the material to the saleable stockpile. Sand processed through the equipment is stockpiled with an 8-percent moisture content, so the saleable product requires no drying time. John Deere added three models to its K-series four-wheel drive wheel loader lineup. The company says its 744K-II, 824K-II and 844K-II wheel loader models meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards and offer high levels of durability, uptime and productivity to the jobsite. John Deere says its K-series II wheel loaders come equipped with larger Teammate V axles and standard cooling and filtration. The K-series II wheel loaders also feature brake reactors and automatic self-adjustors to eliminate brake drag and to maintain a constant brake running clearance with better compliance, the company reports. Highway funding: Gaining momentum

Legislators are actively formulating plans to shore up the Highway Trust Fund. The aggregates industry has been asking for another multi-year transportation infrastructure bill for years, and talk of one has heated up in recent months in Washington. Here’s a look at a couple of the highway-funding proposals that were recently put forth, as well as a taste of some of the discussions that have been taking place in the nation’s capital. Obama proposes six-year plan President Barack Obama proposed a 14 percent tax on overseas profits that would raise $238 billion over six years and create a $478 billion infrastructure budget, the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) reports. “This transition tax would mean that companies have to pay U.S. tax right now on the $2 trillion they already have overseas, rather than being able to delay paying any U.S. tax indefinitely,” a White House official says. NSSGA Convention Schedule

In conjunction with AGG1 is the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) annual convention, which takes place March 15-18. It is an opportunity for association members to come together to help plan the group’s strategic direction. Also during the event, following the NSSGA Chairman’s Welcome Reception on March 15, Pit & Quarry will hold its annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This year’s convention features two general sessions, each with keynote speakers and panels discussing hot topics for both the aggregates industry and the larger transportation industry.
