Cemex US opened a new operation in Central Florida that’s expected to produce about 1.2 million tons of commercial sand each year for construction projects.

The Four Corners Sand Facility in Clermont, Florida, offers sand and aggregates used in concrete, asphalt and infrastructure work. The site uses a dry sand production process with a plate and filter press system that recycles water inside the facility, reducing water use.

“Four Corners strengthens the region by providing an affordable and reliable source of sand and aggregates needed to build essential infrastructure, from roads and schools to hospitals and new homes,” says Jeff Bobolts, senior vice president of aggregates at Cemex US. “These materials keep projects on schedule and help control costs for families and local businesses. We’re proud to serve this community and grateful for the many partnerships that made this facility a reality.”

Local officials say the project will support economic development and improve access to construction materials needed across Central Florida.

“The Four Corners facility supports the infrastructure we rely on every day, from roads and schools to hospitals and housing,” says Sean Parks, commissioner of Lake County (Florida). “It reflects a strong partnership between business and community – one that strengthens our workforce and enhances the quality of life for families across Lake County.”

David Colby, president and CEO of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, says the facility will help support local businesses by improving access to the materials needed for community projects and keeping construction costs more affordable.

“This new facility not only brings good wage jobs, but it will produce the aggregates and cement that go directly into the homes, schools and commercial buildings rising across our region,” Colby says. “Building materials produced close to the jobsites reduce costs, shorten timelines and support local businesses. It’s exactly the kind of economic impact we want, and Cemex is exactly the kind of corporate partner we want helping to build our future.”
