The combined production of crushed stone, construction sand and gravel, cement and gypsum decreased by about 26 percent in the first quarter of 2018 compared with the fourth quarter of 2017, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The drop is consistent with seasonal trends, USGS says.

Production of crushed stone was slightly lower, the agency reports, while production of construction sand and gravel was 7 percent higher than that of the same period in 2017.
