President Donald Trump nominated Neomi Rao to head the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), reports the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA).

According to NSSGA, the office has the authority to review regulations that are not in line with the administration’s agenda and eliminate them.

In this role, Rao would help to implement President Trump’s key agenda items, such as eliminating costly regulations. President Trump has already issued an executive order calling on federal agencies to review rules currently on the books and make recommendations for appeal, NSSGA says.

“Ms. Rao’s background and experience will be valuable as she works to balance the need for common-sense regulations and economic growth,” says Joseph Casper, vice president of safety at NSSGA.

The nomination will be referred to the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee, NSSGA adds.
