The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) released its 2017 Guide to Minerals and Materials Science Schools.
According to SME, this publication contains information used to track mining-related academic enrollment and graduation rates, as well as project employment trends. It also includes information on mining engineering, materials science, metallurgical and mineral processing, and geological engineering academic programs.
SME adds that although there has been a decline in the number of mining and mineral engineering programs at U.S. colleges and universities, there continues to be a significant number of graduates in those programs.
SME is a professional society whose members represent all professions serving the mining, minerals and underground construction industries in more than 100 countries.
