SEW-Eurodrive launched XMiner industrial gear units, designed for the demands of mining and aggregates applications – including conveyor systems, crushers and apron feeders.
Built on the X.e series platform, the XMiner units are now available with local engineering, stocking and assembly in Wellford, South Carolina. The XMiner industrial gear units are tailored to meet the high-performance requirements of mining operations, according to SEW-Eurodrive.
Features of the XMiner units include:
• A reversible housing that can be inverted for either right-hand or left-hand shaft location
• A robust housing
• A helical-bevel gear unit
• Single-piece or split-gear unit housing
• Numerous torque-arm anchor mounting locations

SEW-Eurodrive says the XMiner units provide several benefits for operators, including reduced weight and cost thanks to high power density, a cooling system that eliminates the need for cooling alternatives, reduced inventory and spares, and local engineering and application support for proper sizing. Additionally, SEW-Eurodrive says it can provide quick delivery times for standard versions of the XMiner units and spare parts.
The alignment-free, plug-and-play design simplifies installation, according to the company. Also, the Taconite heavy-duty sealing system for abrasive environments – like mining and cement – features grease purge-able labyrinth seals and laminar rings to prevent debris from entering the gear unit.
