Equipment redesigns extended to wheel loader range
Volvo Construction Equipment unveiled its next generation of wheel loaders, which includes five redesigned models. The first five models to launch are the L150, L180, L200 High Lift, L220 and L260. According to Volvo CE, the revamped machines boast faster cycle times, improved fuel consumption, enhanced operator comfort and productivity-boosting technology. The company says the new wheel loaders will gradually be introduced across select markets this year. The wheel loader series marks the third product lineup that Volvo CE has overhauled in the past year, following the launch of new excavators and articulated dump trucks.

Boost jobsite safety with smarter equipment alerts
John Deere’s suite of jobsite technology solutions now includes SmartDetect, which offers audible and visual alerts when objects – including bystanders – are detected behind a loader. According to John Deere, the technology dynamically adjusts its alert system based on object proximity, escalating warnings as the machine gets closer to objects. Designed as an option for select midsize and large loaders, SmartDetect provides insights that can be incorporated into safety programs.

Excavator model adds safety, precision to projects
Develon’s DX225LC-7X excavator has been used to support mining by building and improving access roads and performing trench work. Its 2D/3D grading features help to set precise depths and angles, aiding less experienced operators. Safety functions like virtual walls and swing limits protect workers and equipment in tight spaces. Additionally, a built-in scale ensures accurate material loading for trucks, improving efficiency and meeting end user needs. Overall, Develon says the excavator enhances productivity, safety and precision in mining site construction.

Collision-avoidance tech empowers loader operators
Caterpillar infused its next-generation medium wheel loaders with technology to advance safety and help customers work faster and with greater accuracy. The new tech includes a collision-warning system with motion inhibit. The technology is available as options for the next-generation Cat 950, 962, 966, 966 XE, 972, 972 XE, 980, 980 XE, 982 and 982 XE wheel loaders. Targeting potential collisions that emerge from behind a loader, the system leverages smart camera and radar technology to give audible and visual alerts to help operators see, mitigate and manage hazards that might otherwise go unnoticed. The system’s three-color zones – yellow for awareness, amber for caution and red for critical – approximate the distance of an object to the anticipated path of the loader.
