McLanahan Corp., in collaboration with sister company Diefenbach, introduced the Quickchange system to streamline filter cloth replacement and filter plate inspection.

Engineered for speed, simplicity and safety, McLanahan says its new technology cuts downtime and boosts operational efficiency.

As McLanahan describes, the industry-standard replacement time for one filter cloth is 10 to 20 minutes. The Quickchange system reduces that process to just one or two minutes.

“Efficiency and safety drive everything we do,” says Cory Jenson, executive vice president of sales and business development at McLanahan. “Teaming up with Diefenbach, a pioneer in liquid-solid separation since 1907, we’ve created a game-changer. Quickchange gets plants back online faster and safer, slashing downtime from filter cloth changeouts.”

In terms of safety, McLanahan says the Quickchange system eliminates the need for personnel to climb onto or inside filter presses for cloth changeouts. Additionally, the streamlined process reduces dependence on overhead lifting equipment, further enhancing safety and efficiency.

With the Quickchange system, McLanahan says filter cloths can be removed for quick cloth or filter plate inspection at eye level – without the need to lift plates out of the filter press.

Traditionally, filter press systems require cloth replacement on both sides of a plate when one fails. Quickchange, however, allows operators to replace just the damaged side, cutting material waste and long-term maintenance costs.

“Filter cloth replacement has long been the leading cause of downtime for filter presses in the mining, aggregates and water treatment industries,” says Alessandro Felicani, managing director at Diefenbach. “With Quickchange, we’ve reduced that downtime for cloth changeout by a factor of 10 or more.”

The Quickchange system will be available through McLanahan, Diefenbach and Eagle Iron Works beginning this year. McLanahan is showcasing the system this week at Bauma in Munich, Germany.
