If you read Pit & Quarry regularly, then you’re keenly aware that our coverage of trade shows is sometimes intense.
That’s certainly the case this month, with the magazine dedicating a chunk of the September edition – plus our pullout supplement – to MINExpo International 2024. This approach is by design, as trade shows like MINExpo, AGG1 and ConExpo-Con/Agg cyclically bring about a new wave of equipment and technology for producers to explore.
Ahead of such events, some exhibiting companies offer a sense of what showgoers can expect before setting foot on a trade show floor. And whether you’re attending MINExpo 2024 or not, you’ll find an assortment of equipment and tech solutions on this month’s pages.
For anyone who hasn’t been to MINExpo, it’s a somewhat different show than an AGG1 or a ConExpo. Mining, obviously, is at MINExpo’s core, and aggregates are a part of mining.
MINExpo, however, isn’t as aggregates-centric as those other two shows. Equipment and technology solutions are certainly available to aggregate producers at MINExpo, but MINExpo covers a more diverse range of the mining industry – one that includes coal, ferrous metals, nonferrous metals and precious metals.
One thing MINExpo does particularly well for those vested in aggregates is present a vision for the future. What starts in big mining (i.e., autonomous hauling, digitalization, electrification) often trickles down to aggregates.
So, while some of the solutions available at MINExpo won’t have immediate applicability, many represent where crushed stone, sand and gravel operations are headed.
P&Q’s MINExpo plans
P&Q’s editors are traversing MINExpo 2024 across all three days of the show this week. We’ll relay MINExpo highlights in our November edition two months from now, and you can follow our show coverage online at pitandquarry.com/minexpo.
If you’re not already, I’d encourage you to sign up for the magazine’s MINExpo e-newsletters that will package our best content before, during and after the show. Sign up today.
Additionally, if you’re attending MINExpo, come by and see us. Pit & Quarry will have a booth in North Hall (Booth 216) of the Las Vegas Convention Center, where we’ll be doing interviews on-site for future episodes of P&Q’s “Drilling Deeper” podcast. Our full library of episodes can be accessed here.
If you’d like to appear on “Drilling Deeper” – whether at MINExpo or elsewhere – let us know. Shoot me an email explaining your interest at kyanik@northcoastmedia.net.
We hope you find this month’s MINExpo coverage valuable, and we look forward to seeing some of you in Las Vegas.
