Process Machinery Inc. (PMI) broke ground on an $11.5 million expansion at its headquarters in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

PMI says the project will add more than 31,000 sq. ft. of new manufacturing and office space in Shelbyville and create 30 new full-time jobs.

A groundbreaking ceremony and midday mixer, held in partnership with the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, brought together state and local leaders, community partners, and PMI employees to celebrate the company’s growth.

“This expansion from Process Machinery Inc. is more proof that Kentucky is a leader in the manufacturing industry,” says Rocky Adkins, senior advisor to Gov. Andy Beshear (D-Kentucky), who was among the event’s featured speakers. “Strong companies are choosing Kentucky and reinvesting here, and it’s creating job opportunities for families across the state. I want to offer my congratulations to PMI’s leaders on this new expansion in Shelbyville.”

Jennifer Miles Ratterman, executive vice president and co-owner of PMI, served as master of ceremonies, welcoming guests and introducing a speaker lineup that included PMI president and co-owner Daniel Miles.

“This expansion represents our continued investment into the future of PMI and our commitment to supporting the aggregates industry,” Miles says. “It positions us to serve our customers better, create new opportunities and build on the foundation of quality and innovation that makes PMI what it is. We are proud to be able to provide additional skilled trade and professional job opportunities right here in Shelbyville.”

The expansion project, which is set for completion by the end of 2026, will include a new paint facility, a water retention basin and other infrastructure improvements.

“This expansion will allow us to create more jobs, strengthen our operations and continue supporting the vibrant community of Shelby County,” Miles Ratterman says. “I’m incredibly proud of our team and grateful to everyone who helped make this vision a reality.”

PMI, founded in 1979 by David Miles and William Miles, has grown from a small family business into a regional company offering design and fabrication services for aggregate processing systems, conveyors and material handling equipment. PMI serves producers throughout the Midwest and Southeast and employs about 120 people.
