As Peckham Industries celebrates its centennial in 2024, one message company leaders impart is about the essential nature of businesses like theirs to the nation.

“The biggest thing for me in our Peckham 100 celebration is the contribution of this industry to this country,” Murphy says. “That we are local. We’re built on local people’s efforts, but we have a national impact in the success of this country. It’s thousands of locations and millions of people across this country doing what we do that enables this country to be successful.

“We are fundamental,” he adds. “We are as important as teachers, police officers and doctors in our communities. Being a part of that is humbling for me and rewarding, as well.”

Gregory agrees.

“It’s amazing to be able to drive around and see what you added over time to these communities and to society,” he says. “Our industry doesn’t always get that recognition.”

Peckham Industries’ contributions include roads, airports, hospitals, schools, railroads and daycares – and the list goes on.

As Gregory says: “When we get into an area where they have pictures on the wall, and you say ‘when was that’ – and it was only 30 years ago, and it looks like a rural community, and now it looks like a modern city … it’s amazing to think that you were a part of that. Not just a part, but a critical [part] – and one of the largest parts of making that possible.”

Gregory also looks forward to the many projects Peckham Industries will contribute to in the years ahead.

“I think we have such an exciting journey ahead of us with the infrastructure needs in the country,” Gregory says. “We really have an opportunity as an industry to show everybody what an amazing career path there is, and what an amazing community you can be a part of by being in the construction materials space.”
