The Pennsylvania Aggregates & Concrete Association (PACA) hired Susan Armstrong as director of specifications and sustainability – a newly formed role within the organization.

“The board of directors and staff are excited to have Susan on board,” says Jeff Detwiler of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., who serves as PACA chair. “With her professional experience and knowledge of the association, we have no doubt she will excel in helping to move the crushed stone, ready-mixed concrete, sand and gravel, and cement industries forward.”

In her new role, Armstrong is responsible for improving the residential and commercial market for aggregates, concrete and cement. According to PACA, Armstrong is responsible for educating and building relationships with specifiers, owners, developers and contractors, as well as reducing roadblocks created by inefficient and outdated or improper specifications and codes.

Armstrong arrives at PACA from the Central Builders Supply Co., which she most recently served as treasurer. Armstrong also worked as an adjunct professor in concrete science technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology while serving on the PACA board of directors.

Additionally, she served as the concrete technical community chair and representative on the FHWA-PennDOT State Transportation Innovation Council.
