A Texas judge issued an injunction on the final overtime rule by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).
The new rule was scheduled to take effect on Dec. 1. The injunction, however, temporarily delays the rule’s effective date until a court reviews a lawsuit and makes a decision. The delay is a procedural measure, and the court has not yet indicated how it will rule on the regulation.
According to DOL, the final rule sets the standard salary level at the 40th percentile of earnings of full-time salaried workers in the lowest-wage census region, currently the south ($47,476 annually for a full-year worker). Learn more about the rule here.
