The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) unveiled the winners of its Environmental Excellence Awards and Environmental Leadership Award.
NSSGA’s Excellence Awards recognize operations that demonstrate a commitment to the exemplary use of environmental controls and systems. The association celebrated 11 gold, 20 silver and 56 bronze environmental award winners during the first general session of this year’s Legislative & Policy Forum.
Granite Construction’s Solari Facility was named the 2025 Environmental Platinum winner as the top-scoring gold award winner.
“Congratulations to all of NSSGA’s Environmental Award winners for continuing to protect the environment, while producing aggregates materials sustainably and efficiently,” says Michele Stanley, interim CEO of NSSGA. “Our members’ efforts to be good environmental stewards help to advance our industry and its impact across the country.”
Additionally, Martin Marietta’s Brian North was named NSSGA’s 2025 Environmental Leadership Award Winner. North, who serves Martin Marietta as vice president of environmental services and land, has been a member of the NSSGA Environmental Committee for 27 years, serving previously as committee chair.
According to NSSGA, North has participated in fly-in meetings in Washington for more than 10 years to educate congressional staff on the Waters of the U.S. rule. NSSGA says North’s efforts on the issue have aided the industry’s position.
