The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published its latest list of the nation’s top crushed stone producers, basing its new rankings on data it collected about 2023 tonnages.

According to USGS, more than 1.55 billion metric tons of crushed stone were produced across the U.S. in 2023. USGS estimates 2023’s crushed stone tonnage to be valued at $24.7 billion.

Nationwide crushed stone production was up 0.6 percent in 2023 – an increase from the 1.54 billion metric tons produced in 2022.

While USGS does not publish crushed stone tonnages by company, the agency says the combined production of the top 100 companies in 2023 was 1.2 billion metric tons. That total represents 77 percent of all crushed stone produced in the U.S. that year.

Several large, publicly traded companies such as Vulcan Materials, CRH Americas Materials and Holcim US make up the top 10 this year. See which producers topped the list, who made the top 100 for the first time and who the largest risers and fallers are.

Additionally, USGS made available its latest top 100 sand and gravel producers list. Check that out right here.
