Martin O’Brien Jr., president and CEO of Salem Stone Corp., plans to step down from his role July 1.

Michael Greer, vice president of operations at the Virginia-based company, will succeed O’Brien in the roles.

According to Salem Stone, O’Brien assumed the role of president in 2000 and guided the company through growth and acquisitions during his time. O’Brien’s career entailed mining and construction equipment sales, as well as executive oversight of several aggregate operations. He spent the last 30 years at Salem Stone.

Greer, meanwhile, has been actively engaged in the mining industry for more than 35 years.

“He will bring vitality and experience to continue to elevate Salem Stone’s commitment to people, community, environment and diversity,” the company says in a written statement.

Salem Stone, a family-owned aggregate producer that ranks 63rd on the U.S. Geological Survey’s latest list of the top 100 crushed stone producers, was founded by Leonard Douglas Hill in the 1950s.
