The Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) will hold its annual Training Resources Applied to Mining conference Oct. 11-13 at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy in Beaver, West Virginia. Joe Main, assistant secretary of labor for mine safety and health, will deliver the opening remarks.
According to MSHA, the tuition-free seminar provides opportunities for health and safety professionals to improve their understanding of training materials.
The seminar, themed “Tune Up Your Training,” will feature presentations from safety trainers on topics such as MSHA policy update, hazard recognition and mobile crane operation. MSHA will also cover how to work in confined spaces and motivate safety at your operation. Attendees can also choose to attend workshops, which will cover a variety of topics pertinent to both metal/nonmetal and coal mine trainers, MSHA reports.
Vendors will be in attendance, showcasing health and safety products. According to MSHA, the exhibit area also will feature training materials developed by MSHA, state grant recipients and the mining industry. Finally, attendees are welcome to participate in the training materials competition. MSHA says this competition is open to all sources of mining-related training materials.
