MINExpo International returns in September, when stone, sand and gravel producers from around the world join other mining sectors at the quadrennial trade show in Las Vegas.
The show, scheduled for Sept. 26-28, will span 831,000 sq. ft. across 12 indoor and outdoor halls, according to the National Mining Association (NMA), which serves as MINExpo sponsor. More than 1,800 companies are expected to exhibit, showcasing their products, services and technologies at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The 2016 event will cover about 2 percent more space than the 2012 show, NMA reports. Exhibits will be housed in the North, Central and South Halls, as well as in the outdoor Silver Lot. Exhibits will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
According to NMA, MINExpo is applicable to individuals in a variety of positions at mining companies, including executive-level leaders; mine managers; production, operations and maintenance personnel; engineering managers and engineers; geologists; and those who make purchasing decisions.
“I am honored and excited to chair such an expansive showcase of mining equipment, technology and expertise from around the world,” says Denise Johnson, a group president at Caterpillar who is MINExpo chairperson. “MINExpo 2016 is showcasing real technologies, advancements, innovations and solutions that will impact the bottom line of mining companies today‚ and into the future.”
In addition to the trade show, producers are invited to attend an opening session the morning of Sept. 26 that will explore current mining industry issues and offer perspectives on the industry’s future.
Several education sessions are available to attendees, as well. Sessions are available Sept. 27 and 28, with topics including automation, markets, mining projects, processing, reclamation, research, safety and water. Professional development credits are available to producers who attend these sessions, NMA says.
Luncheons are available as part of the MINExpo experience, as well. The Sentinels of Safety and NIOSH Awards Luncheon takes place Sept. 27, and the U.S. Department of Interior Awards Luncheon takes place Sept. 28.
While MINExpo has a number of opportunities at the convention center to keep attendees busy there, NMA has arranged several offsite tour options for interested attendees. Museum visits and tours of Las Vegas and Hoover Dam are among the available options.
