Martin Marietta appointed former Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx to its board of directors as an independent member.
Martin Marietta’s board is now comprised of 11 directors, 10 of whom are independent and six of whom joined since 2016. Foxx will serve on Martin Marietta’s Finance Committee.
According to Martin Marietta, Foxx developed the Obama administration’s first surface transportation bill and worked on a bipartisan basis to get its congressional incarnation, the FAST Act, passed. He launched the Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge, engaging more than 70 cities to develop their own strategies to incorporate new technologies into their transportation networks, Martin Marietta adds.
Foxx is currently chief policy officer and advisor to the president and CEO of Lyft, which he joined in 2018.
