Liebherr expanded its Newport News, Virginia-based headquarters, adding 251,000 sq. ft. to the company’s existing campus.
The $60 million expansion includes a warehouse, office building and equipment repair/maintenance workshop. The facilities house employees working in sales, product support, distribution and a range of other departments.
According to the company, about 500 employees work at the company’s Newport News campus, most of which now work in the added facilities.
“Apart from investing in research and design for cutting edge technology, we have a long term focus while looking at our business and the relationships with our customers,” says Torben Reher, managing director at Liebherr. “Thus, we want to grow together and our new site is the evidence for this approach.”
According to Reher, the expanded campus will help the company increase production operations for a range of construction equipment. In addition, the new warehouse provides a 50 percent increase in storage capacity, according to the company.
Liebherr began construction on its headquarters expansion in July 2018.
