LCA: Great Lakes limestone shipments down 6 percent in 2025

Limestone shipments on the Great Lakes in 2025 were down 5.9 percent to 26.6 million tons, the Lake Carriers’ Association (LCA) reports.

Last year’s limestone shipments were 6.7 percent below the trade’s five-year average.

According to LCA, limestone shipments from U.S. quarries decreased 5 percent to 21.7 million tons. Shipments from U.S. quarries were also 5 percent below their five-year average.

2025 shipments from Canadian quarries were down 9.7 percent to 4.9 million tons. They were 13.9 percent below the five-year average.
