The Kentucky Crushed Stone Association (KYCSA) will be hosting its 2018 Underground Stone Safety Seminar Nov. 13-14 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, Kentucky.
According to the association, the event will feature presentations on controlling horizontal stress impacts through mine design, an update on health and safety topics and several panel discussions.
The event also will include an early bird workshop, which will address updates to National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) research on “Search like an EXAMiner” using NIOSH hazard recognition tools, as well as digitizing records for workplace examinations.
During the event, the Mine Safety & Health Administration‘s Sam Pierce will offer a presentation on health and safety issues; Golder Associates‘ Michael Dreyer will offer a presentation on exploration drill holes; East Fairfield Coal Co.‘s Tim Miller will offer a presentation on controlling horizontal stress impacts through mine design; Appalachian Mining & Engineering‘s Dave Newman will offer a presentation on planning multiple-level underground stone mines; and Lhoist‘s Collin Rogers will offer a presentation on mine rescue.
Other presenters will include the Consultants for Engineering, Data, Technology, Mining, Water’s Chris Johnson; NIOSH’s Morgan Sears, Andrew Cecala, Michael Murphy and Brent Slaker; and KYCSA’s Nicholas Rodgers.
