The WA470-7 wheel loader from Komatsu America Corp. is interim Tier 4 certified with a 272-hp Komatsu SAA6D125E-6 engine. The company says fuel consumption has decreased by about 8 percent over the WA470-6 wheel loader. This new model weighs 52,007 lbs. and features improved efficiency, improved operator comfort and enhanced serviceability. It is equipped with the latest Komtrax technology, which is integrated with Komatsu’s Tier 4 technology. Information such as operating hours, fuel consumption, location, cautions and maintenance alerts are wirelessly relayed to a secure website for analysis. The WA470-7 also has a large capacity torque converter with lockup that provides improved acceleration, faster hill climb ability, a higher top speed and lower fuel consumption. This function activates in second, third and fourth gears, giving the machine a maximum ground speed of 23.8 mph.
