Net sales were down slightly in the second quarter at Holcim, although the company made a gain in recurring EBIT.

Holcim reports net sales slipped 1.6 percent while recurring EBIT increased 8.2 percent.

The company also provided insights about its first half of the year, noting that net sales of aggregates around the world are down 4.2 percent. Holcim’s recurring EBIT of aggregates is up 4.6 percent, though.

Holcim says its North American business reached a new level of profitability in the first half, with an increase during the first six months in recurring EBIT margin of 240 basis points to 19.4 percent. Holcim says strong market fundamentals are in place, with the company having secured more than 100 infrastructure projects between 2023 and 2026.

“Our leading sustainable building solutions, from ECOPact low-carbon concrete to Elevate energy-efficient roofing systems, position us as the partner of choice for large-scale projects like infrastructure and data centers,” says Miljan Gutovic, CEO of Holcim.

“We delivered broad-based profitable growth in [the first half of 2024], achieving a superior earnings profile with a record recurring EBIT margin of 23.2 percent in Q2,” Gutovic adds.

Additionally, Holcim says the planned listing of its North American business in the U.S. is on track to be completed in the first half of 2025.
