The Institute of Quarrying (IQ) will be attending Hillhead, which is slated for June 28-30 in Buxton, England.
IQ has more than 5,000 members in about 50 countries, and its goal is to support improvements in all aspects of operational performance through better education and training. At Hillhead, IQ will push its message that improved skills development is a key tool in attracting and retaining industry recruits.
According to IQ, a senior delegation from its organization also attended the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s Annual Convention in Nashville, Tenn., to discuss education, share information and expertise, and discuss a comprehensive training and career development program in the United States for quarrying and aggregates.
These areas have been part of IQ’s growing relationship with aggregate organizations in the U.S. According to IQ, the relationship has contributed to the launch of two U.S. pilot programs, including a junior management program that aims to improve technical skills of individuals needing greater academic qualifications to progress. IQ also has a graduate conversion program that aims to attract degree-level recruits who currently lack the industry-specific qualifications necessary to work in the industry.
IQ is a professional body for quarrying, construction materials and related extractive and processing industries that aims to promote improvements in operational performance. It offers members professional development through conferences, seminars, training courses, assessment programs, workshops, technical meetings, site visits and more.
