MINExpo is back.

The international trade show is now underway at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) following a three-year hiatus. Exhibitors and show organizers alike were ready for MINExpo to begin.

“There is no time in mining’s history that has been more significant than this moment right now,” says Rich Nolan, president and CEO of the National Mining Association (NMA). “Whether it’s energy security or national security, supply chains or electric vehicles, or even manufacturing and infrastructure, it all comes back to mining and the products of mining.”

More than 825,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space across three halls are prepared at the convention center to welcome attendees from around the world. MINExpo is also being livestreamed on NMA TV, opening the show up to virtual attendees.

“For those who are [at MINExpo], seeing the best our industry has to offer is an unparalleled experience,” Nolan says. “But we understand not everyone can attend in person. This year, for the first time, we’ll be streaming live on NMA TV.”

NMA is broadcasting live from the show floor, highlighting equipment and technology. The program features exhibitors and presents interviews with mining leaders. The content is being streamed at nma.org, and it can be viewed at minexpo.com.

This is just one of several MINExpo changes showgoers are seeing following the COVID-altered rendition in 2021.

“Many attendees shared with us that it was their most productive show in all their years of attending,” NMA says of MINExpo 2021. “We plan to deliver the products, people and inspiration they’ve come to expect for the largest global mining event.”

Just as the world has changed since 2021, so too has mining. To address these changes, NMA is focused on its motto for MINExpo 2024: “If it’s mining, it lives here.”

“This includes workforce development, AI and a look at new technologies that are being used in mining today,” NMA says. “We are looking forward to showing you everything we have in store. There will also be new activations in each of the exhibit halls for 2024, so attendees should make sure to check the MINExpo website for announcements and wear comfortable shoes so they can experience it all.”

Additionally, NMA has panels and speakers scheduled over the course of the three-day event.

“This year’s new star-studded speaker series features five leaders who will share their unique perspectives, experiences and secrets for success,” NMA says. “Speakers include Mike Rowe as the opening keynote, as well as Dr. Kelly Monahan, Danica Patrick, Jon Dorenbos and Kevin O’Leary, who will also lead inspiring presentations throughout the event.

“There are a couple of panels that attendees will want to add to their agenda too, such as the producer CEO panel on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and the manufacturer and service CEO panel on Wednesday, Sept. 25,” the association adds. “All speaker series sessions will take place in the West Hall of the LVCC.”

Exhibitor buzz

Says Rich Nolan, president and CEO of NMA: “There is no time in mining’s history that has been more significant than this moment right now. In 2021, more than 21,000 attendees and 1,300 exhibitors made their way to MINExpo. Those participating in MINExpo 2024 looked forward to what was to come.

“We’re excited to participate in MINExpo 2024, where we will showcase our comprehensive range of equipment and technology,” says Ian Edwards, vice president of global sales at Major. “Our team of experts is eager to engage with customers directly to understand their challenges and demonstrate how our solutions can address their needs.”

Philippi-Hagenbuch, another manufacturer exhibiting at MINExpo, views the show as an opportunity to promote its products ahead of future purchasing cycles.

“MINExpo is an exciting time because it serves as a springboard into the next season,” says Josh Swank, chief growth officer at Philippi-Hagenbuch. “By the time MINExpo concludes, budgets are set for the upcoming year, and people are ready to move forward to get ready for the next year’s work. MINExpo offers the opportunity to learn about new equipment and plan for purchases, and we expect a bit of a race to fulfill orders after the typical election year pause.”

Haver & Boecker Niagara, yet another MINExpo exhibitor, looked forward to the show.

“MINExpo is an exciting opportunity to showcase our end-to-end solutions for mineral processing operations,” says Julie Andras, marketing director at Haver & Boecker Niagara. “We are looking forward to talking with showgoers about our full line of solutions, ranging from vibrating screens to diagnostics.”

NMA is hopeful such excitement produces a positive MINExpo experience for both exhibitors and attendees.

“We’ve received positive responses from attendees, exhibitors and partners alike,” the association says. “Professionals from every sector of mining and from all over the world come to MINExpo excited to chat with their peers, connect with suppliers face to face, and meet potential partners that can make an impact on their mining operation long after the show ends.”
