Some Epiroc heavy hydraulic breaker attachments now feature Intelligent Protection System (IPS) technology.

The IPS technology combines the company’s AutoControl and StartSelect functions, providing more efficient and more economical breaker operation.

The IPS technology makes the fully automated system easier to use, ensuring the hydraulic breaker always starts in AutoStart mode, according to Epiroc. IPS also simplifies the breaking process for the operator by automatically adapting the breaker’s operating behavior to any working condition.

Due to its fully automated functionality, IPS requires no operator intervention or reaction, therefore increasing uptime. The system also permits more accurate positioning of the breaker due to its center effect and avoids blank firing that often results in tool damage, the company adds.

Heavy hydraulic breakers with IPS include the Epiroc HB 2000, HB 2500, HB 3100, HB 3600, HB 4100 and HB 4700.

All other heavy hydraulic breakers in the Epiroc range will incorporate IPS at some point in 2018.
