The Portland Cement Association (PCA) offered a preview of the upcoming IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Conference, which takes place May 4-8 in Birmingham, Alabama.
According to PCA, the conference will feature industry experts who share the latest in technical training. PCA will present a spring economic forecast, and a panel addressing how the Trump administration is impacting the industry is also part of the agenda.
Additionally, PCA says MIT scientists will share the latest research on the development of Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) infrastructure.
“This year’s lineup manages to touch on many of the new and possibly pivotal challenges faced by the cement, concrete and construction industries today,” says Mike Ireland, president and CEO of PCA.
David Simchi-Levi, whom PCA describes as an internationally recognized thought leader in supply chain management and analytics, is the featured speaker. Simchi-Levi will address conference attendees May 6 during the opening general session.
A panel discussion with senior leaders from across the supply chain will follow Simchi-Levi, sharing insights into today’s challenges and the need to build more targeted logistics networks.
Paul Chadwick, meanwhile, will serve as a conference speaker May 7. Chadwick is the writer behind the comic “Concrete.” Chadwick will explain what inspired him to choose cement and concrete to encase a human spirit.
“Attendees will hear from the experts on everything from what it will take to provide resilient infrastructure for CCUS projects, to how U.S. cement manufacturers are working to align their priorities with those of the Trump White House, while still advancing with their plan to reach carbon neutrality by 2050,” Ireland says.
