Eric Olsen, the former CEO of LafargeHolcim who resigned from his post earlier this year, was formally charged with funding terrorism in Syria.
According to Bloomberg, Olsen is now under formal investigation and charged with funding terrorist groups as part of a probe into the company’s Syrian operations. Olsen was also charged with putting someone else’s life in danger and placed under judicial supervision, Bloomberg reports.
The investigation focuses on a cement plant where armed groups were paid to keep the operation running. A LafargeHolcim review earlier this year found that local and regional managers were the key decision-makers in utilizing the armed groups, but others in management positions were aware of the decision.
