Capitol Aggregates hosted 15 Texas educators at its Solms Quarry in New Braunfels, Texas, for a hands‑on experience into the science and real‑world applications of mining and aggregates.
The Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association (TACA) produced the event in partnership with the Texas Mining & Reclamation Association (TMRA) as part of the 2025 Summer Teacher Workshop series. The event included 2024 Texas Teacher of the Year Taniece Smith.
According to Capitol Aggregates, the educators on hand spanned the elementary school and high school levels. The event’s goal was to empower teachers with accurate, curriculum-based lessons about the true story of Texas mining and industrial minerals.
