About the Pit & Quarry University Handbook

The Pit & Quarry University Handbook is designed to provide an overview of the aggregate mining process and the business of running a crushed stone quarry or sand and gravel operation. From the dawn of the original P&Q Handbook in 1907 to its digitization in the form of P&Q University from 1998 to 2000, Pit & Quarry continues its commitment to informing aggregate professionals at all stages and across all mediums. History of the Pit & Quarry University Handbook The first Handbook was published in 1907 as a textbook-style resource guide – a full nine years before the launch of Pit & Quarry as a magazine. Updated editions of the Pit & Quarry Handbook continued to roll out in the following decades, with copies of the publication making their way into the hands of both seasoned aggregate professionals, as well as universities with mine engineering curriculum.
