Twelfth 2025 mining fatality reported

The mining industry completed the month of April without a single fatal incident. Unfortunately, a miner was killed in an accident on the first day of May. The Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) indicates that the 12th mining fatality of the year occurred May 1 at an industrial sand operation in Texas. The agency attributes the accident to machinery. Into the first week of May, MSHA had reported on three fatal accidents in 2025 involving machinery.
