Atlas Copco has released the latest addition to the ongoing reference book “Blasthole Drilling in Open Pit Mining.” The third edition was written to provide comprehensive reference on the use of rotary drills in surface mining applications. Twenty-one technical articles have been included to offer information that both experienced drill operators and industry novices can use. To provide real-world scenarios, 25 case studies highlight a variety of successful mining operations around the world. "Blasthole Drilling in Open Pit Mining" is available through local Atlas Copco customer centers and distributors. It can also be downloaded online. Also, Atlas Copco recently introduced the PowerROC T35 E, a new surface drill rig. The T35 E is an extendable boom version of the T35 drilling rig currently in use. www.AtlasCopco.com Keep Reading
KPI-JCI: Kodiak Plus K500+
The Kodiak Plus K500+, a new 500-hp, remote-adjust cone crusher, is the latest addition to the Kodiak Plus cone crusher family, which previously consisted of three models: the K200+, K300+ and K400+. KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens are launching the K500+ model to fill a demand for larger secondary and tertiary cone crushers that are used by high-production producers. One refinement implemented into the Kodiak Plus line is a hybrid-cast, fabricated base-frame design. Other features are replaceable brass thread inserts, internal counterweights and a liner-retention system. www.KpiJci.com Keep Reading
W.S. Tyler: Haver Hydro-Clean washing unit
The Haver Hydro-Clean washing unit from W.S. Tyler cleans deleterious material from aggregate effectively while reducing water consumption by up to 75 percent and energy costs by up to 15 percent over traditional log washers, the company says. Taking a maximum feed material size of up to 6 in. into its vertical drum, the Hydro-Clean employs high-pressure nozzles, rotating at 90 rpm, to spray up to 90 percent recycled water on the material with pressures up to 2,900 psi. The washing unit removes silt and clay particles as small as 63 microns from mineral mixtures and, with its short retention times, can process up to 400 tph, depending on model size and application. Due to its compact size and weight, overall operating and structural costs are considerably lower than with traditional washing systems, the company says. www.WSTyler.ca Photo: W.S. Sandvik: DI550 down-the-hole drill rig
The DI550 down-the-hole drill rig is a match for 5-in. hammer drilling, but Sandvik says the rig is also productive with 4-in. and 6-in. hammers. The DI550 is equipped with a 328-kw diesel engine and a 24.4-cu.-meter compressor airflow at 24-bar pressure. Sandvik says the DI550 includes smart automation features that prevent human errors, improve drilling efficiency and machine performance. Among the features is automatic systems control that supervises all machine functions, and one-pipe automatic drilling that makes the machine easier to use. The DI550 is equipped with Tier 4 or Tier 3 engine technology. An ambient dependent control for compressor running temperature prevents condensate, and, thereby, rusting. Furthermore, the rig is equipped with a new kind of heavy-duty rotary head for maximum rotary torque. www.Sandvik.com Photo: Sandvik Keep Reading
