Terex cancels potential agreement with Zoomlion

Terex Corp. ended discussions with Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology Co. regarding the potential purchase of Terex. The sale of the company’s Material Handling and Port Solutions (MHPS) business segment to Konecranes is still going to proceed as planned, Terex adds. According to a company statement, Terex says this brings several months of uncertainty to an end for its customers, team members and shareholders. Terex adds that it will ll now be able to focus its efforts on serving its customers. “The board of directors and management of Terex worked diligently to determine if an appropriate transaction with Zoomlion, beneficial to Terex shareholders, was achievable,” says David Sachs, chairman of the board of Terex. “Unfortunately, after many months of discussions, Zoomlion was unable to provide a fully financed, binding proposal for the purchase of Terex with or without MHPS.” Despite this, Terex reports that the sale of its MHPS business segment will enhance its financial position and allow it to invest in new products and services. “This transaction represents… Keep Reading

ConExpo-Con/Agg registration to include monorail passes

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), in conjunction with the Las Vegas Monorail, is including unlimited monorail rides with three-day and seven-day passes for ConExpo-Con/Agg attendees and exhibitors, respectively. “We are always looking at ways to maximize value and convenience for our exhibitors and attendees, and with a station in front of the Las Vegas Convention Center and at the adjoining Westgate Resort & Casino, it just made sense to add the monorail to create our new ‘Badge-Pack’ bundle that also includes the show badge and hotel shuttle buses,” says Sara Truesdale Mooney, vice president of exhibitions and business development for AEM. “We believe incorporating the monorail as a resource and amenity will elevate our stakeholders’ experience in a brand-new way.” According to AEM, the Las Vegas Monorail is an economical and convenient mode of transportation. In 2015, the monorail reduced toxic emissions by 29.6 tons of carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds and nitrous oxides and eliminated more than 2.3 million vehicle miles, AEM reports. It was unveiled during a symposium hosted by AEM and Northwestern University. According to AEM, the study was produced by a multi-disciplinary team at Northwestern, which reviewed the study’s findings and discussed how to leverage future opportunities, technologies and trends in pursuit of a national and comprehensive plan for U.S. infrastructure. “The objective of the study is not to predict the future but to frame scenarios and trends that will inform the public and policymakers about what is possible,” says Ron De Feo, Kennametal CEO who serves as chairman of AEM’s Infrastructure Vision 2050 Task Force. “AEM and its members will use this study to articulate the factors and trends that will shape a national, long-term vision for U.S. infrastructure. There is much to discuss, debate and, most importantly, decide.” U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)… Keep Reading
