Terex MPS releases CR Series screen plant
Terex MPS expanded its CR Series portable plant line with its Cedarapids CRS620S screen plant, which has the ability to handle larger deck loads and screen openings, Terex reports. The plant comes equipped with an LJ-TSV screen and a 48-in.-wide fines conveyor with elevated discharge. According to the company, the flex shaft screen drive eliminates belt influence on the screen motion, belt whip, belt slippage and spring-loaded belt tensioners. Doosan and Bobcat donate $3 million to scholarship program
Doosan and Bobcat Company donated $3 million to North Dakota State University’s (NDSU) STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) scholarship program. In addition, the State of North Dakota will match the donation, adding another $1.5 million to the fund. According to the companies, the endowment will distribute approximately $180,000 in scholarships per year in perpetuity, beginning this year. “STEM-related areas help fuel innovation, which is the very foundation of our business and the key to our future,” says Rich Goldsbury, president of Doosan and Bobcat Company. “This endowment will help students fulfill their aspirations in engineering and other innovation-related professions.” Bobcat and Doosan Company also began a research partnership with NDSU in 2005. Griesemer named NSSGA Safety and Health Pro of 2014
The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) named Louis Griesemer as its James M. Christie Safety & Health Professional of 2014. The award recognizes an individual for substantial contributions and commitment to safe operating practices within his company and the industry. Griesemer is the president of Springfield Underground and was the 2007 chairman of NSSGA’s board of directors. He is also a certified safety instructor as designated by the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration and led the NSSGA’s Safety and Health Pledge program. “Louis’ high standards on behalf of safety and health are a great example of the aggregates industry’s commitment to comprehensive worker wellness celebrated by the James M. Superior adds AIS Construction Equipment as new dealer
Superior Industries named AIS Construction Equipment as its sole conveying equipment dealer in Michigan. As Superior’s new dealer, AIS will market, sell and service Superior’s full line of conveying equipment, including stacking conveyors, transfer conveyors, feed systems and portable plants. “AIS is deeply involved in processing and material handling within markets that are very important to Superior,” says Bill Humphrey, Superior’s Eastern Midwest territory manager. “They are well blanketed throughout Michigan and are properly staffed to provide great service and quality guidance to their customers.” Keep Reading
Dodge Momentum Index rises in December
According to Dodge Data & Analytics, the Dodge Momentum Index increased in December, rising 4.0 percent from a revised 123.8 in November to 128.7 in December. The index is currently at its highest reading since February 2009 and is 17 percent higher than one year ago. The December increase was due to a 4.1 percent increase in the commercial sector and a 3.8 percent increase in the institutional sector. Kemper adds Rettew as sales director
Kemper Equipment hired Chris Rettew as its sales director. Rettew has over 25 years of experience in engineering and sales of quarry and mining equipment. His previous experience includes working as a crushing and screening product manager for Sandvik for 18 years. Prior to Kemper, Rettew worked on capital projects for Metso for six years. “I am excited to add Chris Rettew to the Kemper team,” says Greg Donecker, president of Kemper. “His vast experience in the industry as an application specialist will only enhance what we have to offer to producers in the aggregate and non-construction marketplace.” Keep Reading
SME releases Mine Rescue Manual
The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration released a mining manual titled, “Mine Rescue Manual: A Comprehensive Guide for Mine Rescue Team Members.” The manual was prepared and tested at the Colorado School of Mines and is designed to “help mine rescue teams address emergency situations successfully by maximizing the protection of human life while minimizing the cost to the corporation reputation," according to SME. Topics in the manual include surface operations and incident command, gases and ventilation, team safety, injured workers, communications, legal and regulatory compliance and reporting, and mine recovery and operations. “There are other materials on mine rescue available, but it is scattered among training centers, universities and government agencies,” says David L. W.S. Tyler appoints Kilmurray as VP of sales
W.S. Tyler named Peter Kilmurray as its vice president of sales. In his new role, Kilmurray is implementing an aftermarket program that involves post-sale follow-ups, equipment testing and technical support. Since joining the company mid-2014, he has supervised seven technical sales representatives in the U.S. and Canada and has visited customer sites regularly with these representatives. As VP of sales, Kilmurray is also now a part of W.S. Tyler’s leadership team, which helps ensure customer satisfaction.
