Atlas Copco Group’s mining and rock excavation technique business area and construction tools division will become a separate company in order to better focus on mining and civil engineering, the company says.
According to Atlas Copco, the new mining and civil engineering company will include 12,000 employees from all divisions within its rock excavation technique and construction tools divisions. It will also have its own board of directors and CEO.
“With the new company solely dedicated to mining and civil engineering, we can serve our customers even better than today,” says Helena Hedblom, business area president for the Atlas Copco mining and rock excavation technique division. “From an organizational point of view, there will be no changes. We have strong customer centers, professional people, excellent products and superior services. Our customer support will be reinforced as we can run operations more focused from present premises.”
The new company will be listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange in mid-2018 following approval at the Atlas Copco Annual General Meeting in April 2018, the company adds.
Atlas Copco’s mining and rock excavation technique division, headquartered near Denver, is responsible for the sales, after-sales service and rental equipment for surface and underground rock excavation, exploration drilling, rock reinforcement, ground engineering, and water well, oil and gas drilling.
