Alpine Silica, a Texas-based domestic producer and supplier of frac sand, will build two new frac sand plants in Van Horn, Texas, and Fay, Oklahoma.
According to the company, it has secured nearly 51 million tons of reserves for the Oklahoma plant, which is expected to produce more than 3 million tons of frac sand per year. The Oklahoma project is expected to break ground within the next 30 days and will take about six months to complete, the company adds.
The Van Horn, Texas-based plant is estimated to produce about 3 million tons of frac sand per year, and groundbreaking is expected to take place in the coming months. The company estimates the project will be completed in about seven months.
“We are excited to announce the expansion of our business and development of two new plants in this region of the U.S.,” says Ronald Jordan, general manager of Alpine Silica. “This is an exciting time for our industry, and we are at the forefront of lowering costs and increasing production to benefit our partners at major oil and gas companies.”
Alpine Silica currently owns and operates one plant in the Permian basin that produces approximately 3 million tons of frac sand per year. According to the company, its frac sand is used to enhance recovery rates of oil and natural gas from hydraulic fracturing wells in major U.S. shale basins.
