Volvo Construction Equipment launched two midsize crawler excavators in North America, expanding its newest generation of excavators. The EC260 replaces the EC250 in Volvo CE’s lineup while the EC300 is an update of a previous series model. Like the other models in the new series, the EC260 and EC300 excavators feature up to 15 percent greater fuel efficiency, increased productivity, enhanced safety and cab upgrades, according to the company. When the new excavator series was introduced in May, Volvo CE says it represented the most significant update to its excavator lineup in two decades.

Luff Industries launched a new roller as a means for end users to decrease operating and maintenance costs and increase efficiency. According to Luff, the new North American Standard (NAS) roller provides consistency in the product and the quality of that product so customers know exactly what to expect in terms of longevity and performance. Each roller is manufactured to Luff’s standards, the company says, but the rollers can fit into a variety of different manufacturer frames. The NAS roller is available in 5-in. CEMA C steel trough rolls, for 24-in. to 48-in. belt widths, and for 12 different idler manufacturers.

Komatsu debuted the WA700-8 wheel loader as an option for aggregate producers, promoting the machine as an ideal four-pass match with 70-ton haulers such as its HD605-10. The company says the WA700-8 offers substantial improvements in performance, efficiency and operator comfort compared to the WA700-3 predecessor model. Compared to the previous model, Komatsu says the WA700-8 delivers up to 8 percent more gross power and 15 percent more torque. Additionally, the loader provides a 6 percent increase in lifting force and rated load, allowing operators to handle larger volumes of material more easily.
