The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) hosted its 2025 Young Leaders Annual Meeting in Savannah, Georgia, attracting more than 370 participants from across the U.S. Attendees heard from industry leaders during general sessions. They also participated in community service activities and engaged one another during networking events. Blue Water Industries’ Cole Logue (left) and Steve Tillquist were among the first-time meeting attendees.

CheckProof’s Linn Karlsson (left) and Kyle Hunter attended the annual meeting for the first time, as well. Karlsson serves CheckProof as COO while Hunter is head of sales and system specialist. The two took part in a Savannah port and river tour on the first day of the meeting. The tour offered insights about the Savannah River’s past and present, sharing tales and historical facts about the city’s modern port and how the harbor evolved into one of the busiest in the world.

Marvin Woodie, president of Conn-Weld Industries, was a keynote speaker on Day 1 of the Young Leaders Annual Meeting. During his presentation, Woodie shared his career journey and detailed why it’s important to “stay in the now.” Others from Conn-Weld to attend the meeting were RJ Clemons, Ryan Corkwell, Carrie Moore, Anna Semonco and Sean Weisiger.

The meeting’s Mark S. Walsh Award, meanwhile, was presented to Franz Peters of Martin Marietta. The award is presented each year to an individual who exemplifies the ideals by which Mark Walsh led his life: quality, honesty and integrity. Peters serves Martin Marietta as regional vice president and general manager of the Ohio district. Additionally, he is a director of the Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association.

Tom Hill, chairman and CEO of Vulcan Materials, also addressed NSSGA’s Young Leaders. Hill was enshrined earlier this year in the Pit & Quarry Hall of Fame during a black-tie induction ceremony in St. Louis, making him the third representative from Vulcan to be inducted. According to NSSGA, next year’s Young Leaders Annual Meeting will take place April 12-15 in Destin, Florida.
