LafargeHolcim in the United States acquired Utelite Corp. in Coalville, Utah.
Utelite Corp. produces expanded shale lightweight aggregate.
According to LafargeHolcim, the acquisition strengthens its aggregate position in the Mountain Region, which includes aggregate operations in the Denver, Phoenix and Las Vegas metro areas.
“For many years, Utah has been a dynamic and growing market, and the Utelite Corp. has been part of this growth,” says Jay Moreau, CEO of U.S. aggregates and construction materials at LafargeHolcim. “We’re pleased to welcome the Utelite employees to our family and look forward to their experience and bench strength reinforcing our aggregates operations in the area.”
Utelite Corp., founded in 1962, has more than 40 employees serving customers across the Western U.S. and Western Canada. LafargeHolcim says the operation has more than 60 years of proven and probable reserves available.
The company will become part of LafargeHolcim’s Aggregate Industries Mountain Region.
In the U.S., LafargeHolcim, which is part of the Holcim Group, is made up of nearly 350 sites across 43 states. The company employs 7,000 people in the U.S.
