Baldor Electric Co.: Dodge Type EXL

Baldor Electric Co.’s Dodge Type EXL tapered roller bearing provides both misalignment and expansion capability while maintaining Type E mounting dimensions. The new design incorporates a cartridge-style inner unit into a split ductile iron housing. According to Baldor, the split-housing design allows the inner unit to swivel freely in the housing, creating up to 4 degrees of static misalignment. Mounting dimensions are equivalent to any Type E dimensioned product. The sealed inner unit incorporates the Dodge XTS triple-lip seal for increased protection in harsh environments. The housing is made from ductile iron for added strength. Also, the new bearing design offers a 13 to 14 percent increase in load ratings over Baldor’s previous tapered bearing design.
