Ranking the nation’s top 20 crushed stone producers

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published its latest list of the top 20 crushed stone producers in the United States.

The leading U.S. producing companies are listed below, in descending order, based on their 2016 production.

  4. Lehigh Hanson
  5. LafargeHolcim
  6. Cemex
  7. Rogers Group
  8. Carmeuse Lime & Stone
  9. Luck Stone Corp.
  10. Lhoist North America
  11. New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co.
  12. Ash Grove Cement Co.*
  13. Bluegrass Materials Co.**
  14. Summit Materials
  15. Dolese Bros. Co.
  16. Vecellio & Grogan
  17. National Lime & Stone Co.
  18. Eucon Corp.
  19. Buzzi Unicem USA
  20. Mulzer Crushed Stone

The combined production of the top 20 companies increased slightly to 743 million metric tons, which represents 55 percent of the national total. The combined production of the top 100 companies was 1.02 billion metric tons (Gt), according to USGS. The top 100 companies represent 75 of all crushed stone production nationwide.

The combined crushed stone production of the top 294 companies was 1.21 Gt, USGS adds, meaning 20 percent of the companies out there produced 89 percent of all crushed stone sales in 2016.
