Athabasca Minerals, a resource company for aggregate projects, signed a Letter of Intent for land property in Mayerthorpe, Alberta, Canada, for the Firebag Frac Sand Project (Firebag Project) Storage and Distribution Hub.
The property selected by Athabasca integrates into the corporation’s operations and logistics strategy, with the goal of having an operational frac sand facility in 2019, the company reports. Additionally, the property provides a strategically-located distribution and storage hub within a one-hour trucking distance of major plays in the active Duvernay formation.
Athabasca will continue to develop the overall project while also actively seeking a processing location near the permitted mine site in the Wood Buffalo region, the corporation notes.
The Firebag Project mine location is fully permitted and ready to start mining once Athabasca reaches its final investment decision.
