The latest budget deal struck late last week in Congress includes billions of dollars in additional funding for infrastructure.
Specifically, the bipartisan Senate deal includes $20 billion for infrastructure investments and $89 billion for hurricane and wildfire relief, the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) reports.
The infrastructure funds will reportedly support existing infrastructure projects. Surface transportation projects would be among the beneficiaries, as would water and energy infrastructure.
“This bipartisan deal could provide a much-needed influx of funding for our critical transportation and infrastructure systems,” says Mike Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO. “We continue to urge Congress to commit to a comprehensive, long-term and sustainable investment package to improve our infrastructure, grow jobs and expand our economy.”
